Softball continued its hot streak against the Trinity Tigers this Saturday afternoon. After two hard-fought games, the Celts secured their ninth and tenth straight victories in SCAC action.

Game 1 UST 9 TU 8

Game one was an offensive explosion from both teams as they combined for thirty total hits. Trinity kicked off the scoring with two runs in the visitor half of the first inning, however, their lead was shortlived as St. Thomas responded with four runs of their own to take a 4-2 lead. The shootout did not end there though. In the third inning, the Tigers delivered back-to-back jacks to tie the game at four runs apiece and tacked on one more for the 5-4 advantage. From there, the Celt pitching came through with three consecutive shutout innings, as the offense came alive with five runs, powered by three RBI from Jaelyn Simmons. Down to their last three outs, the Tigers tried to claw their way back into the game with two runs, yet it was too late as the game finished 9-7 in favor of St. Thomas.

Game 2 UST 7 TU 5

In game two, Trinity made their presence known early with a grand slam in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. However, St. Thomas answered with five hits leading to five runs to gain the one run advantage 5-4. Then in the top of the second, the Tigers tied the game, now with the score deadlocked at five runs apiece neither wanted to give an inch. Both teams delivered three straight shutout innings as the score held. This was until the bottom sixth inning, when Chloe Bennett answered the call. Bennett broke the scoring drought with an RBI double, then Addison Lehew delivered an insurance RBI single to give St. Thomas the 7-5 lead. With the lead now secured, Allison Hughes pitched a perfect seventh inning to secure the victory.
