Men's Basketball Continues Past Centenary 68-55

Men's basketball took down Centenary College in a big SCAC matchup 68-55. Before the game, the Celt seniors: Joshua Sanchez, Zack Golaszewski, Andrew Nguyen and Freddie Ricks III were honored.

In the first half, the Celts and the Gents nearly went point for point, matching each other on the court. After Centenary opened the scoring, St. Thomas responded with a bucket of their own. They also capitalized on seven Gent turnovers to keep themselves in the race. However, with their backs against the wall down one point with just a second remaining Calvin Williams IV answered the call. At the buzzer, Williams drained a three to give the Celts the 28-26 lead heading into the locker room.

As the second half rolled, it was a different story as the Gents did everything they could to keep pace with the Celts. Jumping out to a lead as large as 17, St. Thomas made 53% of their shots from the floor as they started pull away. Andrew Adebo powered through in the last 20 minutes with nine points and six rebounds. Then as the clock hit zero, the Celts found themselves victorious 68-55.

With this win, St. Thomas improves to 15-0 in SCAC play and locked in the regular season title heading into the conference tournament. With one game remaining in the regular season, the Celts look to finish the year 16-0 and 23-2 overall, their best record in program history.
