Ladies Bested 3-1 By Texas Lutheran On Sunday

Georgetown, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team fell 3-1 to the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest in its final match of a weekend conference divisional hosted by Southwestern University at the Robertson Center.

The Ladies (7-13, 0-7 SCAC) dropped a pair of matches on Saturday, both sweeps, to the University of St. Thomas Celts and the host Pirates. Texas Lutheran improved to 15-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play with Sunday's win.

The Bulldogs took set one, 25-18, won set two by a score of 25-15, then set three was claimed by the Ladies, 25-21, before TLU completed the sweep with a 25-21 win in set four. Centenary finished with 73 digs, 46 kills, 41 assists, and six service aces while the Bulldogs tallied 69 digs, 50 kills, 45 assists, and 12 aces. The Ladies hit .108 for the match compared to .211 for TLU. Centenary topped 70 digs in a match for the sixth time this season and had three players reach double digits in digs.

Senior DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) was once again a model of consistency as she recorded a team-high 23 digs and added a pair of assists. She has tallied 20 or more digs in a match seven times this season and in four of her last six matches. Sophomore RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) finished with 13 digs, eight kills, and an ace and freshman S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) recorded a career-high 37 assists,12 digs, and two kills.

Sophomore MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) posted a career-best 19 kills and had a pair of digs and two block assists for 20 total points. Sophomore OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) had nine digs and one kill and junior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) had seven digs and three kills. Senior MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) posted eight kills, a team-high four aces, an assist, a dig, two block assists and one solo block to earn 14 points. Freshman DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) made her collegiate debut and tallied four digs and an ace.

The Ladies will take a break from conference play as they face the Wiley College Lady Wildcats in Marshall, Texas on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Centenary swept Wiley at home on Sept. 13.
