Tigers Breeze Past Pirates

Tigers Breeze Past Pirates

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity was just too strong for the Southwestern Pirates as SU dropped the SCAC rivalry match 7-0 on Friday night. The loss drops the Pirates to 5-6-1 on the year and 1-4 in the SCAC while Trinity remains unbeaten with a 14-0 record, 5-0 in conference play.

The Tigers scored steadily throughout the contest, three in the first half and four in the second to easily defeat the Pirates. SU keeper Sarah Nonaka was busy in goal, recording a season-high 15 saves on 41 shots faced, but the strong Trinity attack was too much for the Pirate defense to handle.

TU outshot Southwestern 42-3 and held the Pirates to zero corner kicks while having five opportunities themselves.

Rachel Placke, Lyndsey Resnik and Chelsea Letzer recorded one shot each, Resnik's was on frame.

The Pirates return to non-conference action on Monday as they face Texas Lutheran University in Seguin at 3:00 pm.
