Tyus Climbs Scoring List As CC Falls to Austin

Box Score Courtney Tyus poured in a game-high 21 points, but Austin College used a 19-4 run during the latter stages of the first half and went on to record a 78-64 victory over Colorado College on Friday night at Reid Arena.

The Tigers cut their deficit to eight points twice during the second half, first on a layup by junior guard Katie Waters with 10:44 to play, and then on a three-pointer by sophomore forward Korbyn Ukasick with 8:35 to go.

That, however, proved to be as close as CC would get.

The Roos answered with a 10-2 run and built a 70-54 lead after junior forward Briana Harvey scored two of her 11 points on a layup with 5:48 remaining.

Tyus made six of 11 field-goal attempts and seven of eight free throws to eclipse the 20-point mark for the second time this season. She also added nine assists and a pair of blocked shots.

The senior guard climbed past Eliese Hansberry (2006-10) and Kris Lund (1980-84) into 15th place on the program's all-time scoring list with 943 points.

Junior forward Danielle Davis reached double figures for the 13th time in 16 games and finished with 13 points.

Junior guard Katie Waters finished with 10 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers, who slipped to 2-14 overall and 2-3 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Senior guard Christina Kime and senior forward Erin Riley scored 12 points apiece to pace Austin.

Kime added seven points and five assists for the Roos, who improved to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in the SCAC.

Colorado College plays host to the University of Dallas on Sunday at noon.
