Men's Basketball continued their opening road trip of conference action Saturday, visiting Austin College after dropping their opener Friday. UST found their stroke from the floor, and a balanced attack led an 81-68 victory over the 'Roos to even up their conference record at 1-1.

Both teams traded baskets in the opening stages of the game, highlighted by a flurry of makes from Wesley Hooker for UST. Hooker scored 11 points in the first 10 minutes to lead the Celts to a narrow lead. Chance Thalmann, getting his first minutes in a first half this season, caught fire to help lead a 14-2 run to open the game up for St. Thomas, hitting a trio of threes to push the lead to 32-18. Austin cut into that lead slightly, but both offenses sputtered down the stretch of the first half and UST led 36-29 at the break.

Calvin Williams IV, fresh off a season-high 36 on Friday, took over to start the second half. He scored or assisted on 16 of the Celts' first 18 points of the half, including several layups and a pair of assists to Marion Williams and Nicholas Buffalo. Hooker put in four more points before Marion Williams shouldered the scoring with another pair of threes. The 'Roos threatened to climb back into the contest late, but Thalmann's fifth three-pointer of the night put the game away early, and UST coasted to an 81-68 victory.

St. Thomas had four different players with 15 or more points in the game, led by Calvin Williams IV's 16. Chance Thalmann's 15 points on 5-10 shooting, all three point shots, was good for a season high. The win moves the Celts to 1-1 in conference play and 7-2 on the season.
