Wright fuels comeback victory over Dallas

Box Score Daniel Wright had a foot in both second-half goals as Colorado College overcame an early deficit to record a 2-1 victory over the University of Dallas in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Sunday afternoon at CC's Stewart Field.

The Tigers improved to 9-3-3 overall and climbed into a tie for third place in the conference standings with a 4-2-0 record.

It was Wright's touch pass off a cross from senior midfielder Chris Lutz that enabled sophomore forward Sean Parham to square the game in the 62nd minute.

A little more than 14 minutes later, the junior forward chased down a pass from deep in the defensive zone by junior Ben Sandalow, raced past the Crusader defenders and beat goalkeeper James Kerin with a hard shot to the right side of the net.

Wright's tally was his third game winner of the season and marked the first time in 2011 he recorded a goal and an assist in the same game.

Dallas took an early lead when Michael Chapman's cross from the 35 yards out on the right side brushed the crossbar and caromed down inches over the goal line before bouncing out into the field of play.

The Crusaders nearly doubled their lead in the 16th minute, but Forrest Marowitz made a diving save at the right post to deny Chapman's blast from the left side.

Marowitz made two saves while improving to 4-1-3 on the season.

The Tigers finished with a 22-7 advantage in total shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

Kerin stopped six shots for UD, which dropped to 3-8-1 overall and 1-5-0 in the SCAC.

Colorado College plays its final three games of the regular season on the road, beginning next weekend at Trinity University and Southwestern University on Friday night and Sunday afternoon, respectively.
