BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Tiger men's cross country team won its section of the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday at Lehigh University, while the Trinity women finished 24th among the largest field of the season for both teams.
The Tiger men's team had all five scoring runners finish in the top 30 to throw up a winning score of 74 overall against a group of 34 teams and 375 individual finishers. Marywood University (PA) was the runner-up with a score of 122, followed by Swarthmore College (PA) and a score of 153. Trinity's women were 24th among a field of 43 teams and more than 350 runners.
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) led a trio of Tigers who finished in the top 10 individually, finishing in 25:46.4 for third place – just shy of 10 seconds from the overall leader.
Diego Flores (San Antonio, Texas / Great Hearts Monte Vista North) was seventh with a time of 25:57.5, followed by
Ben Whittemore (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) and his 10th-place time of 26:10.6 in the race.
Logan Nasky (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) and
Nathaniel Trevino (San Antonio, Texas / Central Catholic) were 25th (26:32.1) and 29th (26:40.4), respectively, to round out Trinity's scorers. All 10 of the Trinity men's competitors finished in the top third of the race.
The women were led by
Allison Fortman (McKinney, Texas / Boyd) and her time of 23:03.7 that was good for 63rd individually.
Madison Habeck (Lake Jackson, Texas / Clute Brazoswood) was 99th with a time of 23:21.6 for the Tigers as well.
Em Miller (Danville, Calif. / San Ramon Valley) was just seven seconds off her personal-best time set earlier this season, finishing in 23:33.2 on Saturday.

The Trinity men's and women's teams will be back in action next weekend at the Saints Classic, hosted by Our Lady of the Lake University at the Windcrest Golf Course. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women at 9:15 a.m. The Tigers will also be back on the road at the Augustana Invitational on Saturday, October 14, in Rock Island, Illinois.
