Texas Lutheran splits pair of matches Saturday in Belton, Texas

 
BELTON, Texas -- Texas Lutheran split a pair of non-conference matches Saturday at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
 
TLU defeated host school UMHB in five sets: 28-26, 22-25, 16-25, 25-23, 15-10 in the early match.
 
In the evening match, Concordia Texas defeated TLU 25-20, 24-26, 21-25, 25-21, 19-17.
 
TLU's overall record now stands at 20-16.
 
In the loss to Concordia, Lexi Morris collected 33 digs, and Jaci Chambers added 26 assists and 23 digs. Kelsi Menn had five blocks, and Bryten Mitchan delivered 19 kills. Peyton Sulak added 16 kills.
 
In the five-set win over UMHB, Kacie Hall had 15 kills, and Chambers added 27 assists and 29 digs. Lexi Morris recorded a career-best 41 digs. Sulak had seven total blocks. Mitchan registered four blocks.
 
TLU returns to Seguin to host the 2019 SCAC Championships, set for Nov. 8-10 in TLU's Memorial Gymnasium. TLU is the No. 6 seed and opens up play Friday at 6 p.m. against Southwestern, the No. 3 seed.
