The Rhodes College baseball team defeated Mississippi College 7-3 this afternoon at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL  The Lynx overcame 40 degree temperatures and 25 mph winds en route to their second victory of the 2012 season. 

Senior RHP Austin Carden made his first start of the season working the first 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and struck out 9.  Carden is now 2-0 on the year.  Junior RHP Matt Burnick worked the final three frames as he collected his first save in a Lynx uniform.  On the day, Burnick allowed no hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out 1.

The Lynx offense was paced by junior 1B Matt Killary who was 1-2 on the day with a run scored, 2 RBIs, walked once, and got hit by a pitch.  Senior CF Travis Perkins was 2-5 with a run scored.  Junior SS Lynden Pindling was 2-5 with a run scored, drove in a run, and stole a base.  Sophomore OF Walker McWherter was 2-5 with a run scored and an RBI.  Red-shirt freshman 3B Justin Genter went 2-4 with an RBI.

Rhodes will return to action Sunday at 12:00 with a double header against Huntingdon College.
