Men's Soccer Nets Three Goals in Win over Centenary

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Texas Lutheran and Centenary College traded goals in the early going, but two second half goals from Luis Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) secured a Bulldogs road win in a crucial conference matchup on Sunday at Mayo Field in Shreveport, LA.

The win was TLU's second conference victory of the season as they move to 2-3 in the SCAC and 6-5-1 total on the season. Centenary (LA) moves to 3-10-1 (0-5 SCAC).

After surrendering a goal in the first minute in the game, Nestor Ayala (Dorado, Puerto Rico/Wagner) responded with a goal of his own off of a corner kick from Jared Esparza (Cibolo/Steele) in the 20th minute. This is where the score would stay through halftime.

After halftime, Luis Green put the Bulldogs ahead with a goal in the 53rd minute via an assist from Adrian Maldonado (San Antonio/Warren) before immediately netting another goal, this time unassisted, in the 55th minute - his 10th of the season and 4th against the Gents - to place the Bulldogs firmly ahead 3-1.

The Bulldogs dominated on both ends - maintaining a 21-3 shot advantage over the Gents - 11 of which were on goal. The TLU defense was as stingy as ever, only allowing 3 shots throughout the match with goalkeeper Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) only facing one shot on goal.

Texas Lutheran returns home this weekend to face University of Dallas on Friday at 7:30 PM at Gustafson Field. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
