GEORGETOWN, Texas – In the seventh meeting of Southwestern and Trinity in an SCAC Championship match, the Pirates emerged victorious to snag their fourth SCAC title.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pirates were sharp at the outset, executing offensively and diving all over the court defensively to take an early 9-5 lead. Intelligent attacks kept SU's lead intact, winning the first set 25-17.
- Extended rallies ruled the second set and the Tigers pressed back from a six point deficit to win 25-23.
- A tight match broke just enough late for the Pirates to go up 2-1 in the match with a 25-20 set three win.
- Southwestern held the Tigers to their lowest attack percentage of the match, .103%, to win 25-16 and claim the title.

- Kaitlyn Foster: 22 kills, 0 errors, .423 attack percentage, 26 digs, Tournament MVP
- Nikki Welch: 41 sets, 14 digs, All-Tournament Team

With the win, Southwestern earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship next weekend. The Pirates, now 31-4 on the year, will learn their regional site during the selection show Monday at 10 am CST on www.NCAA.com.
