'Roos Split with Trinity and JWU

DENVER, Colo. - The Austin College volleyball team split its two matches on Friday against Trinity and Johnson & Wales, falling 3-1 to the Tigers before bouncing back for a 3-1 win over JWU. The 'Roos are now 6-10 overall and 1-2 in SCAC play.

Against Trinity, the 'Roos grabbed a 25-20 first set victory, but the Tigers answered by winning the next three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-15, 25-20. Christine Royalty led Austin College with 12 kills and added five service aces and four block assists, and Karson Dykes had 11 kills. Kynleigh Browne chipped in nine kills, while Brooklyn Talley and Allison Pierce each had 21 assists in the loss. Hannah Arbaugh led the 'Roos with 13 digs and Mari Prazak added 11.

In the second match of the day against Johnson & Wales, Austin College took the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-19 before falling 25-27 in set three, but the 'Roos would take a 25-18 win in the fourth set to clinch their first SCAC win of the year. Royalty again notched 12 kills and added nine block assists, and Shelbi Cook chipped in 10 kills. Talley recorded 18 assists, pushing her past the 1,000-assist milestone for her career, and Pierce had 13 assists and 13 digs. Prazak paced Austin College with 19 digs in the victory.
