GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost their conference matchup with Southwestern University 64-58 Tuesday evening. They drop to 5-14 on the year and 2-9 in conference.
The Crusaders came out abit slower than they would have liked, but did well to keep themselves within striking distance for the entire game. They were able to cut into the deficit in the second quarter by playing some solid defense, and went into the break trailing by just four points.
Though they struggled from the field for much of the game, Dallas stayed in the game thanks to their free throw shooting, particularly in the third quarter when they went 11-12 from the line to stay within five points going into the fourth. It was still anybody's game in the final minute of play, but the Pirates were able to see out the win to sweep the season series.
Canai McPherson led the team with 21 points; that makes it three out of her last five games with 20+ points. Imani Hardin led the team with nine rebounds, and Adryan Alvarez added 10 points off the bench.
