
GEORGETOWN,TX- The University of St. Thomas men's basketball team closed out their conference road trip in style, defeating Southwestern University 64-43 in Georgetown, Texas. The win improves the Celts to 12-1 overall and keeps them unbeaten in SCAC play at 4-0.
The game opened with high energy from both sides as the Pirates claimed an early 16-10 advantage. However, a pivotal tip-in from Nicholas Buffalo shifted the momentum in favor of the Celts, who capitalized by scoring consistently and reclaiming the lead, 20-19. Shortly after, CK Egbo knocked down back-to-back three-pointers, extending the advantage to 29-21. Egbo capped the first half with another clutch three in the final seconds, sending the Celts into halftime with a commanding 32-21 lead.
The second half saw the Celts assert their dominance, holding Southwestern scoreless for six minutes and stretching their lead to 37-24. St. Thomas continued to control the tempo, building on their lead and stifling the Pirates' offense. By the final buzzer, the Celts had sealed another decisive victory to remain undefeated in conference play.
CK Egbo led the offensive charge with a stellar performance, shooting 6-for-9 from the field and an impressive 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to finish with a game-high 18 points. Angel Johnson was equally impactful, contributing 13 points while dishing out 5 assists and grabbing 3 rebounds. Nicholas Buffalo added critical contributions off the bench, going a perfect 2-for-2 from the field and securing 3 rebounds.
The Celts' defense was also on full display, forcing 11 turnovers and holding Southwestern to just 43 points, their lowest total of the season.
