Ladies Fall To Hendrix, 3-0, On Saturday

Belton, Texas - The Centenary volleyball team fell 3-0 to Hendrix College on Saturday in its final match of the Mary Hardin-Baylor Tournament inside the Mayborn Campus Center.

The Ladies (0-3) dropped a pair of matches on Friday to Howard Payne University (3-2) and the host University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (3-0). Hendrix improved to 3-0 on the young season as the Warriors opened the match with a 25-10 win in set one, recorded a 25-19 set-two win, and clinched the match with a 25-17 advantage in the third set. Centenary finished the match with 50 digs, 25 kills, 24 assists, and three aces while Hendrix recorded 63 digs, 43 kills, 40 assists, and eight aces.

Senior DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) put an exclamation point on a great weekend as she posted a team-best 20 digs and added a pair of assists and two aces. Freshman S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) had 13 assists and three digs, and fellow rookie, MB Susi Curtis (Haslet, Texas), finished with five digs and five kills. Senior MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) tallied five kills and two digs and Senior MB Caroline Richmond (Marquez, Texas) posted six kills, five digs, and one assist. Senior DS Mariah Martinez (San Antonio, Texas) had four assists and three digs and sophomore RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) tallied four kills and two digs.

Centenary opens its home schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 6 versus Texas A&M-Texarkana in a non-conference match set for 6 p.m. in the Gold Dome.
