UD Womens Basketball Can't Overcome Early Deficit
After being edged in overtime less than a month ago, the
University of Dallas Crusaders basketball lost a hard fought
against a tough Rhodes College Lynx team, 81-69. UD was in a 9
point hole at the break before coming to life. Unfortunately it
wasn’t enough as the Lynx held the Crusaders to 32 percent
shooting from the field while shooting a 40 percent clip
themselves. The loss drops UD’s record to 5-8.
Junior forward Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, TX/Marcus H.S)
and freshman guard Kylie Yoshimura (Tempe City, CA/Mark Keppel H.S)
both scored over 20 points as the duo had 21 and 20 points
respectively. Yoshimura also lead the team with 8 assists, while
junior guard Bethany Roessler’s (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier College
Prep) 8 rebounds tied her for the team lead with junior forward
Joirdan Cole (Plano, TX/Bishop Lynch H.S.). Cole also reached
double figures with 11 points and Roessler dished out 4 assists,
stole 2 passes, and recorded the team’s lone block in the
defeat.
The UD women have a short break to regroup before heading across
town to take on Dallas Christian College on Saturday, January 16 in
Farmers Branch, TX. The game tips off at 1:00pm.
