
SEGUIN, Texas – No. 4 seed Southwestern hit three home runs, including two by Will Cates, and cruised to a 16-2, seven-inning win over top-seeded Texas Lutheran in an elimination game of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday at Katt-Isbel Field.
The Pirates (18-24) will face No. 2 seed and third-ranked Trinity in the title game at 3:30 p.m.
Jacob Kendra (2-4) went the distance to pick up the victory. He scattered eight hits and two runs to pitch the Bucs into their first title game appearance since 2004.
