SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The McMurry University swim teams capped its season with four days of competition at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships this week, with both teams posting a seventh place finish.
The women finished with 166 points while the men scored 158 points.
One school record was broken, while 32 personal bests were set. Additionally, nine relay teams posted their best marks of the season.
"We are proud of all our time drops over the past four days," Head Coach Casey Pacheco said. "Our athletes have worked extremely hard over the season and it was fun to see it pay off."
Freshman Terrin Boehmer broke the school record in the 200-yard freestyle in the opening leg of the 800-yard freestyle relay Wednesday night, swimming his segment in 1:45.69, besting Ryan Black's mark of 1:46.21 in 2002. It was the second straight season a record has been broken at the SCAC Championships.
"Terrin's record was just a testament to how hard he works every day. He has strived to be the best since he joined our family," Pacheco said. "I do have to say, him thanking his teammates after he broke the record was one of my favorite moments of the season. This team pushes each other every day to be the best we can be. "
Boehmer also earned the only podium finish for the War Hawk men, posting a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 53.22 seconds, setting a new personal best by more than four seconds. It was one of three personal bests for Boehmer during the week.
