The College of Wooster women's tennis team recently wrapped up its spring break trip with a 5-2 win over Ripon College and a 4-3 loss to the University of Ozarks.
Janaki Jagannathan went 4-0 across the two matches, and after her 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 1 flight against Ripon, the senior accumulated her 100th collegiate win across singles and doubles play.
Jagannathan is the second Scot to accomplish the feat and is only behind Kirsten Patton who accumulated 113 program wins from 1985-1988.
Furthermore, her 57 singles wins puts her alone in second, behind Patton who sits at 65, and her 45 doubles wins is one win shy outside the top five.
Jagannathan led Wooster to the win over Ripon behind her singles win and her doubles win, teaming with Elyse Errington for a 6-2 victory.
Wooster swept doubles play for the point. The No. 2 team of Kamila Kadirova and Jade Adkins as well as the No. 3 team of Naledi Jani and Willow Hernishin collected 6-4 wins.
Adkins and Kadirova also picked up singles wins. Adkins won at the No. 3 flight, 7-5, 6-2, and Kadirova won the No. 4 match, 6-2, 6-4.
Jani gave Wooster its final sinlges point with a hard-fought 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (3) win at the No. 5 flight.
Errington and Hernishin each fell in their respective No. 2 and No. 6 flights after falling in a second set tiebreaker.
On Monday, Wooster fell to Ozarks despite picking up the early doubles point. Jagannathan and Errington won 6-3, while Kadirova and Adkins collected a 6-4 win.
Jagannathan cruised in her No. 1 match, 6-0, 6-0, while Adkins had a tougher time but got the job done at No. 3, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (7).
The clinching point came in the No. 4 flight where Kadirova battled back to force a 10-point tiebreaker but ultimately fell 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (3).
Wooster moves to 4-6 on the year and will prepare for North Coast Athletic Conference play when they return home. They travel to Wittenberg University on April 5.
