WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's soccer team stood toe-to-toe with No. 8 ranked Centre College, but the Colonels delivered a dramatic goal in the final minutes of double overtime to drop the Fighting Scots 1-0 in a regional clash Saturday afternoon at Carl Dale Field.

The Colonels (6-0) struggled to generate many offensive chances against the Scots (4-3) for most of the match, but they eventually broke down the defense with just three minutes remaining in the second overtime period.

Centre's Morgan Collins drove from the left wing and put a shot on goal, causing Michele Ring to push the ball away with a diving save. This allowed Anne Mitchell to collect the deflected ball and blast it into the open net for the game-winning goal.

Wooster had its chances throughout the match, including a shot by Mary Riney in the first half that just missed high and grazed off the cross bar. Late in the second half, Bri Fulmer bent a free kick around a group of defenders, but the goalkeeper was able to race to the left post and make the save.

One defensive highlight came in the second half when a Centre player sent a free kick into the box, and Liz Miller blasted a header on goal, but Ring fully extended her body and punched the ball out of harms way.

The Scots will look to bounce back Tuesday when they host John Carroll University at 4 p.m.
