Gideon, Snovely drops Round of 16 contest to Chicago duo

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Grant Gideon and Nickoloz Snovely dropped their Round of 16 matchup to Chicago's Erik Kerrigan and Ninan Kumar in the NCAA Championship Thursday at The Champions Tennis Club. The match went the distance, but Southwestern's duo came up short in a 2-6, 6-3, 3-6 decision.

Gideon and Snovely, who were doubles partners for the last three seasons, made history as the first two players in program history to qualify for the national tournament. The duo netted a 19-5 overall record this spring and led Southwestern to its first-ever national ranking. Additionally, both players earned all-conference honors.

Kerrigan and Kumar advance to Friday's quarterfinal round where they will meet Emory's Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding.
