Top-seed Trinity eliminates Texas Lutheran from SCAC Women's Soccer Championship

SEGUIN, Texas -- Top-seed Trinity eliminated Texas Lutheran from the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship with a 4-0 semifinal victory over the Bulldogs.
 
Saturday at TLU's Gustafson Field, Kaity Ward scored the first two goals of the match. She put home shots at the 11:00 mark and at the 32:17 mark.
 
Ward's first goal was assisted by Molly Sheridan. The second goal by Ward came on a free kick.
 
Kyra Stafford put the Tigers ups 3-0 with a goal in the 41st minute. Lindsey Peng provided the assist.
 
Peng joined the scoring with a goal off her own corner kick in the 57th minute.
 
Trinity improved to 9-0 with the tournament victory. The Tigers will play for the SCAC Championship in the tournament final at 1 p.m. Sunday, also at Gustafson Field.
 
TLU's season, shortened and moved to the spring due to COVID-19, ends at 4-6-1.
 
Trinity out-shot TLU 28-5 and led in shots on goal 16-3. TLU's Elana Rivera made 11 saves for TLU.
