Bulldogs Drop Heartbreaker to Concordia (TX), 87-85

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran men's basketball led with two minutes remaining against future SCAC foe Concordia (TX), but a Tornados driving layup with three seconds left lifted the Tornados over the Bulldogs, 87-85, Tuesday night at Memorial Gymnasium.

TLU junior forward Easton Allen's (New Braunfels/Marion) three-pointer with 2:02 remaining gave Texas Lutheran an 82-79 lead.

Concordia countered with a layup followed with two free throws following a Bulldogs turnover to take an 83-82 lead. The two teams would trade free throws until a Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson) layup would tie the game 85-all with 23 seconds remaining before Concordia's game winner with three seconds remaining.

Texas Lutheran (1-4) had five players in double figures, led by 15 points, six rebounds, and three blocks from Mason Wallace. DJ Ardoin provided 13 points, seven rebounds, and three assists off the bench. Junior Easton Allen scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Jordan Dunn (Del Valle/Del Valle) scored a season-high 11 points off the bench.

The Tornados outscored the Bulldogs 52-39 in the second half. Concordia would score 34 points off the Bulldogs 29 turnovers. The Bulldogs finished the game shooting 43.3% (26-of-60) and made just 6-of-25 three-pointers (24%). TLU was 27-of-35 from the free throw line (77.1%) in a game that saw the two teams combine for 57 fouls and 75 free throws.

Texas Lutheran will be back in action Friday, Nov. 24, as they travel to Alpine to face Sul Ross State in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 4 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
