Milne fuels come-from-behind victory over Trinity

Box Score Sophomore guard Ryan Milne poured in a game-high 23 points as Colorado College overcame a 13-point first-half deficit to post a 56-51 victory over Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Trinity University on Saturday night at Reid Gymnasium.

Milne made six of eight shots from behind the arc, including one with 55 seconds to play that put CC ahead for good. The reigning SCAC Newcomer of the Year iced the contest with a pair of free throws with two seconds to go and dished out a game-high six assists.

Colorado College led 1-0 after freshman forward Chris Lesnansky made one of two free throws 59 seconds into the game and didn't lead again until sophomore forward Daniel Webb knocked down a jumper from the top of the lane with 1:33 remaining in the game.

Webb finished with 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds.

Trinity scorched the nets during the first half and was shooting better than 50-percent when Zach Lambert buried a three-pointer with 3:01 to play in the first half to put the visiting Tigers ahead 29-16.

Milne's third long-distance shot cut Colorado College's deficit to 10 with two minutes to play, and then senior forward Jeremiah Waters knocked down a three-pointer from the left wing as time expired to pull the home team to within 29-22 after 20 minutes.

CC opened the second half with a 9-3 run and pulled to within 32-31 on sophomore guard Jake Tramutolo's trey with a little less than 16 minutes to play, but TU maintained a lead until Lesnansky tied the game at 43-43 with 5:00 to go.

Robert Kitzinger scored 13 points to pace Trinity, which slipped to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Ryan Beall and Lambert added 12 points apiece.

CC, which improved to 2-0 in the SCAC and 2-3 overall, visits Denver's Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday night.
