Shreveport– The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Saturday to Colorado College by a score of 3-1 and 3-0 to Trinity, as the crossover event hosted by the Ladies began at the Gold Dome and the campus Fitness Center (FIT).

The Ladies (6-8, 0-2 SCAC) will play two more matches on Sunday, both in the Gold Dome, as they face Schreiner (5-7, 1-1 SCAC) at 10 a.m. and then Austin College (7-7, 1-1 SCAC) at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the final match of the tournament. Austin College will face Colorado College (10-3, 2-0 SCAC) at 10 a.m. in the FIT and Dallas (6-7, 0-2 SCAC) will face Trinity (10-2, 2-0 SCAC) at approximately 12:15 p.m. in the Gold Dome.

All three of Sunday's matches held in the Gold Dome will feature both live stats and live video. The Austin College-Colorado College on Sunday in the FIT at 10 a.m. will not have live video but will have live stats.

Match One Recap: Colorado College 3 Centenary 1

The visiting Tigers won the first set, 25-17, but the Ladies rebounded with an impressive 25-23 win in set two. A very competitive third set went to Colorado College 26-24, and then the Tigers closed out the win in the fourth set, 25-14. Centenary finished with 71 digs, 35 assists, 37 kills, and an ace. The Tigers recorded 81 digs, 60 kills, 57 assists, and seven aces. Colorado College hit .228 for the match while Centenary finished at .053. The Ladies hit .158 in the second set, their best percentage of the match, finishing with 11 kills in 35 total attacks with only six errors.

Senior DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) and Senior MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) each had 19 digs, Lowe also had 10 kills, and senior S/RS Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) finished with 14 and had a team-high 34 assists. Sophomore RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) led the way in kills with 12 and added eight digs. Sophomore OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) had seven digs, freshman MB Susi Curtis (Haslet, Texas) tallied three kills and a dig, and freshman MB/OH Jordan Wheeler (Baton Rouge, La.) had three kills and one dig. Sophomore MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) added eight kills.

The Ladies raced out to a 7-2 lead in their set-two win, the Tigers tied it up 13-13, but then Centenary went on an impressive 9-5 run to lead 22-18, then 24-20 until the Tigers cut the deficit to 24-23, but an attack error gave the Maroon and White the two-point win.

Centenary fell behind 11-6 early in set three but tied it at 14-14, took an 18-17 lead, then led 23-21 and just two points away from a set win. But, The Tigers won the next three points before the Ladies tied it at 24-24 but two-consecutive points went CC's way to clinch the match.

Match Two Recap: Trinity 3 Centenary 0

Trinity opened with a 25-15 win in set one, won by the identical score in set two, and then edged the Ladies, 25-22, in a competitive third set to record the sweep. Centenary finished with 52 digs, 27 kills, 26 assists, four service aces, and a pair of blocks. Trinity totaled 66 digs, 46 kills, 44 assists, a block, and three aces. The Tigers hit .254 for the match to the Ladies' .033.

Proctor had a team-best 13 digs, Lowe had 11, and Demerjian 10 to go with 24 assists. St. Martin led the way in kills with 11 and added seven digs, two aces, an assist, and a block. Lowe also had eight kills and Liedy finished with six digs and one assist. Canady had two digs and two kills.

The Ladies, despite the two losses on Saturday, are 11-4 in their last 15 matches on their home court. Centenary is 2-2 in the Gold Dome this season with a pair of non-conference wins over Texas A&M-Texarkana (3-1) and Wiley (3-0).
