Tigers not up to Parr in loss to Panthers

Aaron Parr buried a three-pointer with 28 seconds remaining in the game to lift Birmingham-Southern College to a 54-51 victory over Colorado College on Sunday afternoon at Reid Gymnasium.

Parr hit the game winner as Panther screen knocked Nick Rose out of the way, but the Tigers still had a pair of opportunities to tie the game inside the final 10 seconds.

Jarrell Sweet missed a three-point attempt with 10 seconds to go, and after Mark Messenger missed the front end of one-and one with 4.5 seconds to play, CC turned the ball over while trying to move the ball up-court against the full-court press.

The Panthers took a 10-point lead on a layup by Michael Rebarchak with 16:25 remaining in the second half, but the Tigers answered with an 18-5 run to take the lead with 6:04 to play on a three-pointer by Jeremiah Waters.

Parr led BSC with a game-high 16 points while Rebarchak added 12.

Brady Ohlsen and Rose paced the Tigers with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Colorado College dropped to 3-14 overall, but its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference record remained at 2-6 because games against the Panthers don't count while the school makes its transition from Division I to Division III. BSC improved to 8-9 overall.

The Tigers return to the road next weekend for conference games at Oglethorpe University and Sewanee. Birmingham-Southern will play host to Millsaps College and Hendrix College.
