Counts Climbs to 2nd Place on Career Assist List

Senior setter Lizzy Counts dished out 36 assists and climbed into second place on the program's all-time list as the Colorado College volleyball team cruised to a 25-16, 25-18, 25-21 victory over Illinois College on Friday afternoon at Reid Arena.

Counts finished the match with 3,738 assists, surpassing Larissa Enns' (1998-01) total of 3,717 on CC's 24th point of the first set on a kill by Allie Freeburg. Amy Schornack (2008-11) owns the school record with 4,400.

The two-time All-American led the Tigers to a .343 attack percentage. It marked the seventh time this season Colorado College hit at least .340 in a match.

Counts also became the 16th Tiger to record 1,000 or more career assists and joined Schornack (1,317) as the only setters on the exclusive list.

Freshman outside hitter Meaghan Hohman recorded the fourth-highest single-match hitting percentage in program history with 12 kills on 13 attacks with only one error.

Hohman posted a .846 attack percentage, which trails only Meredith Ballard (.929 / 13-0-14), Cathy Costello (.917 / 11-0-12) and Kristin Poulson (.867 / 13-0-15) on the all-time list.

Senior outside hitter Haley Harris also had an impressive performance with 10 kills on 22 swings with just one error, good for a .409 percentage.

The Tigers were in control through the first two sets, but Illinois College did its best to extend the match and pulled into a 15-15 tie on a block by Maddie Ramsay and Madison Klanke.

However, CC answered with four straight points to build a 19-15 lead on a Hohman kill and the Lady Blues never got closer than three points. The Tigers sealed their 11th sweep in the last 12 matches with a kill from senior outside hitter Jordan Mullen.
