Box Score Schreiner University took advantage of eight three-pointers and a 20-8 surge to open the second half to defeat Colorado College, 70-66, on Friday night at the Schreiner Event Center.
Trailing 36-33 at the half, the Mountaineers used a 10-2 run during the opening minutes of the second half to turn a three-point deficit into a 43-38 lead. A few minutes later, the Bulldogs outscored CC, 10-3, to build a 53-44 lead.

Sophomore guard Jared Thompson's three-point play with 1:02 to go gave SU a 67-61 lead, and after senior forward
Chris Lesnansky scored to pull Colorado College to within four, the Mountaineers made three of four free throws before Houska hit a three-pointer with three seconds to go.
Lesnansky led the Tigers with 16 points, while Houska finished with 11.

Tyler Jonas recorded seven points and a team-high seven rebounds for CC, which slipped to 9-9 overall and 3-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Contest.
Colorado College raced to an early 19-5 lead after freshman forward
Andrew Maddock completed a three-point play 7:09 into the contest.
The Mountaineers answered with nine consecutive points to cut their deficit to five points on a Hollis Robinson jumper.
Maddock sank one of two free throws to give the Tigers a 27-19 lead with 5:52 to play in the half, but back-to-back three pointers by senior guard Stevan Guerrero and freshman guard Keenan Gumbs pulled SU to within two points.
Schreiner was within a point after sophomore guard Maverick Harris sank a pair of free throws with 46 seconds to go, but junior swing man
Luke Winfield canned a jump shot 16 seconds later to give CC a 36-33 lead after 20 minutes.
Gumbs scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Mountaineers, who improved to 11-6 overall and 4-2 in league play.
The teams play again next Friday in Colorado Springs.
Colorado College visits Trinity University in San Antonio on Saturday night.
