Schreiner Rallies to Edge Tigers

Matthew Rindahl scored six of his team-high 16 points during the final 1:36 to lead Schreiner University to a 68-60 victory over Colorado College on Friday night.

Rindahl made one of two free throws after he pulled down an offensive rebound with 1:36 to go, and then he hit from downtown on his team's next possession to put the Mountaineers up 66-60 with 1:14 to play.

The sophomore forward sealed the game by making two of four free throws during the final 36 seconds.

The Tigers took a 56-55 when freshman guard Isaac Zachem scored on a layup with 5:56 remaining, but Alex Dehoyos scored 28 seconds later to give Schreiner the lead for good.

After Cameron Davis connected from behind the arc to give the Mountaineers a 62-58 cushion, a pair of Tyler Jonas free throws cut CC's deficit in half. Those free throws proved to be the last points for the Tigers.

CooXooEii recorded game highs of 20 points and eight rebounds to lead Colorado College, which slipped to 6-12 overall and 2-7 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Freshman guard Aaron Acosta was 3-for-7 from behind the arc and finished with 13 points for CC.

Zachem finished with 10 points, reaching double-digits for the third time in the last five games.

After falling behind 14-5 early in the first half, the Tigers utilized a 24-9 surge to build a six-point lead with 3:12 remaining before halftime.

Colorado College took its largest lead at 36-28 when Nabeel Elabdeia scored 3:40 into the second half.

Paul Wells added 12 points and six rebounds for the Mountaineers, who improved to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in the SCAC.

CC visits Trinity University on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT.
