RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Trinity men's cross country team finished eighth and the women's team finished 10th at the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday morning.
The Tiger men finished with a score of 249, which was one point ahead of Lewis & Clark College (OR) and the University of La Verne in a tie for ninth. Trinity's women were 10th as a team with 276 points and trailed Lewis & Clark by just eight points.
The Tigers were led by junior
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce), who earned All-Region Cross Country honors for the second straight year. He finished ninth overall at the meet with a season-best time of 25:00.1 at the meet. Salony finished 17th at Regionals in 2022 and qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Diego Flores (San Antonio, Texas / Great Hearts Monte Vista North) was 44th for Trinity's men, clocking in at 25:55.4. Fifth-year
Ben Whittemore (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) finished 59th in a time of 26:19.3, while sophomore
Logan Nasky (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) was 69th after crossing the line in 26:33.3. Also finishing in the top 100 were sophomore
Nathaniel Trevino (San Antonio, Texas / Central Catholic) and junior
Eli Karg (Friendswood, Texas / Friendswood), who finished with times of 2640.0 (77th) and 26:58.2 (90th), respectively. Senior
Joseph Herlin (Ft. Worth, Texas / Boswell) also clocked in at 27:15.8.

Paige Tangney (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier Township) was 49th in 23:52.9 to lead Trinity's women's runners. All seven women's runners finished inside the top 100 at the meet, with first-year
Cali Good (Yucaipa, Calif. / Yucaipa) in 53rd with a time of 23:58.9. Three Tigers finished back-to-back-to-back from 68th to 70th, beginning with first-year

Ellie Catron (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands Christian) was 69th with a time of 24:28.1 and first-year
Em Miller (Danville, Calif. / San Ramon Valley) was 70th in a time of 24:29.1. Sophomore
Allison Fortman (McKinney, Texas / Boyd) crossed the finish line in 85th with a time of 24:51.6 to close out the Trinity runners.

The NCAA Cross Country Championships meet will be held Saturday, November 18, in Newville, Pennsylvania. The top finishing teams in each region are selected, followed by 22 at-large teams (based mainly on regional results). The top 70 individuals that are not on the teams advancing to nationals will be selected as well, with Salony expected to make the cut for the second straight season. The official selections will be announced by the NCAA tomorrow afternoon (Nov. 12).
