Celts Comeback and Explode for 12-4 Victory Over Austin College

Celts Comeback and Explode for 12-4 Victory Over Austin College

Baseball began its SCAC series with Austin College this Friday evening. After being down 4-1, the Celts exploded for eleven in the final two innings to secure a 12-4 win.

After a quiet first two innings from both teams, Austin College got on the board first as an error by the Celts' second baseman allowed a run to score. Their 1-0 lead was short-lived though, as Dylan Lamb answered with a solo shot to right field to tie the game at one apiece. However, once Austin College got another chance to bat, they came alive for four hits leading to three runs as the score now read 4-1 in favor of the roos. It was like this until the eighth inning, as the Celts were down to the final six outs. Brandon Madden got things started with a leadoff single as St. Thomas recorded five hits and scored five runs by the end of the inning to take a 6-4 lead. Leo Galvan, Mason Seay, and Jeffrey Williams each had RBI hits to help the Celts' power through the inning. With momentum now on St. Thomas' side, the hit parade did not stop. Mason Seay went yard in the top half of the ninth for three runs as the score was now 9-4, and seemingly out of reach for Austin College. However, the bleeding did not stop there, the Celts added three more runs as roos pitching could not handle the St. Thomas lineup. When the dust settled, the Celts secured the 12-4 comeback victory.
