Waters helps CC shoot down Crusaders

Box Score Senior forward Jeremiah Waters poured in a career-high 28 points as Colorado College overcame an early 15-point deficit to defeat the University of Dallas, 82-64, in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game on Sunday afternoon.

The Crusaders scored the first 12 points and led 20-5 after Aaron Wyatt's layup 7:42 into the contest, but from that point on it was all Tigers. CC had five players reach double-figure points for the first time this season and outscored Dallas, 77-44, during the final 30 minutes.

Waters drained four of his career-best eight 3-pointers to ignite 21-5 run that put Colorado College ahead for the first time at 26-25 with 4:49 remaining in the first half.

Wyatt, who finished with a game-high 24 points, sank a pair of free throws to put UD up by a point, but that lead lasted just 13 seconds because sophomore guard Jake Tramutolo ignited a 15-2  run with a pair of long-range buckets to help the Tigers build a 41-31 lead after 20 minutes.

The Crusaders pulled to within 50-44 when Joe Stephens knocked down a short jumper with 11:07 remaining in the second half, but Tramutolo and Waters nailed back-to-back 3-pointers to start a 14-4 run that put CC in control with 16-point advantage with 7:40 to go.

Sophomore guard Ryan Milne had 13 points and nine assists, while freshman forward Chris Lesnansky added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers.

Junior forward Ian Rewoldt recorded his second double-double of the year with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Tramutolo chipped in 11 points.

The 18-point margin of victory was CC's largest of the year, and the 40-33 advantage in rebounds marked just the third time this season it won the battle on the boards.

The Tigers squared their overall record at 6-6 and improved to 3-2 in the SCAC. Dallas dropped to 3-11 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

Colorado College plays eight of its final 12 games at home, beginning next weekend when Centre College and Sewanee visit Reid Gymnasium on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
