TLU Men's Soccer Downs McMurry, 4-1

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team (9-2-4, 5-2-3 SCAC) secured a key three points in a 4-1 win over the McMurry University War Hawks (4-12-1, 2-8 SCAC) Friday night at Gustafson Field.

Texas Lutheran extended their win streak to three matches as Erick Lopez (Humble/Humble) and Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point) had three-point matches and Jayden Franke (San Antonio/Johnson) registered his first multi-assist match of his career.

Lopez got the scoring started in the 29th minute scoring via assists from Hart and Franke before Hart would double the Bulldogs lead in the 40th minute via Franke's second assist of the night.

Cole Sixkiller (San Antonio/Reagan) kept the TLU offense rolling in the second half, scoring just two minutes into the half via an assist from Erick Lopez to increase the TLU lead to 3-0.

Evan Pacheco (San Antonio/Central Catholic) sent a 73rd minute penalty kick into the back of the net for the Bulldogs final goal of the night and for the first goal of his career.

Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) earned his ninth win of the season, making two saves on the night.

The Bulldogs outshot the War Hawks 22-3, including 10-3 in shots on goal.

Texas Lutheran will face Concordia (TX) on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 12 PM in a win or go home matchup on the final day of the regular season as the two teams fight for the final spots in the 2024 SCAC Tournament. Sunday will act as Senior Day for the Bulldogs as they honor their 19-player senior class.
