GEORGETOWN, TX- The Pirates hosted the Texas-Dallas Comets for their fourth match of the season on Sunday, September 10 at 2:30 PM CDT.
The Pirates narrowly edged out the Comets for time of possession with the ball, 53% to 47%, showing it was a very evenly matched game with the majority of possession taking place around center field for both teams. There were a lot of stopped plays, with a total of 37 fouls and the Pirates had a fair amount of penalties come against them while they were in scoring position.
Late in the second half, with just eight minutes to go, the Pirates were awarded a Penalty Kick. Michael Grimm stepped up and scored, giving the Pirates the 1-0 lead. Less than 1 minute later, the Comets came down to score the equalizer. Both teams left everything they had on the pitch, but ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw for the heated match-up.
Next up for Men's Soccer is East Texas Baptist on Friday at 7:30 PM CDT at Varsity Field at Southwestern University.
