Emily Harrison and
Ellen Silk won two individual events apiece to propel the Colorado College women's swimming and diving team to decisive victories over Wayland Baptist University and Ohio Northern University on Saturday night at Schlessman Natatorium.
Â
The Tigers won eight of 13 individual events while defeating Wayland Baptist, 166-100, and Ohio Northern, 186-100.
Â
In the first event of the meet,
Mary Rose Donahue set pool and varsity records while winning the 1-meter diving with an 11-dive score of 270.53.
Riley Wadehra took second with 244.88 points to give CC its first of seven 1-2 finishes.Â
Â
Harrison cruised to a dominating victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching the wall more than 57 seconds ahead of teammate
Hannah Varner in a time of 11:39.04.
Â
Two events later, Harrison took first place in the 100 backstroke with a clocking of 1:04.01. She also finished second in the 50 back (30.02).
Â
"Emily was especially impressive today, taking the win in the 1000 free, and then turning around and picking up another win in an event she seldom swims, the 100 back," head coach
Anne Goodman James said.
Â
Silk finished first in both butterfly races, beating
Selma Jukic to the wall each time. Silk posted times of 27.27 in the 50 fly and 1:01.83 in the 100.
Â
Selma Jukic won the 200 free with a time of 2:03.15, while sister Alma won the 500 free in 5:38.38.
Â
After taking second in the 200 and 500 free,
Jio Chang finished first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:23.37.
Â
"Wayland especially challenged us in the sprint free and breaststroke events, while we were able to pull out victories in the longer freestyles and other strokes," Goodman James said. "We have been working on our underwater dolphin technique off our starts and turns, and I saw outstanding implementation of that across the board from our team tonight."
Â
Colorado College's
Ethan Schick won the 50 fly in a time of 23.98 and was fourth in the 100 fly in 55.05.
Â
Stefan Bay finished second in the 100 back with a clocking of 55.81 and fourth in the 50 back in 26.84.
Â
Eric Dallesasse took second in back-to-back events – the 100 fly with a time of 54.13 and in the 200 individual medley in 2:06.06. He also was third in the 200 free with a clocking of 1:51.75.
Â
"The men were a bit short handed tonight, and that showed up in the score," Goodman James said. "
Ethan Schick is an amazing racer, taking the win in a very competitive 50 fly event. Eric Dallesasse continues to be a gutsy finisher in freestyle, butterfly and IM events."
Â
CC will continue its winter training before returning to action on Jan. 21-22 at the 2017 Colorado College Classic. Â
