Bulldogs Fall to No. 8 Trinity in SCAC Opener

SEGUIN, TX -- Texas Lutheran Women's Soccer opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 4-0 loss to No. 8 Trinity Friday evening at Gustafson Field.

The Bulldogs (3-7-1,0-1-0) were outshot 30-1 in the contest, 13-0 in the second half. The Tigers (9-0-1, 3-0-0) also held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Freshman goalkeeper Madison Johnson (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) suffered the loss in goal, allowing all 4 goals in the game, but recorded 4 saves as well. 

Samantha Martinez (Schertz/Clemens) took the Bulldogs lone shot on the game.

The Bulldogs played the 8th ranked Tigers to a 0-0 tie in the first half with goalkeeper Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) saving 5 shots in goal.

The Tigers exploded for four goals in the second half to blow past the Bulldogs and secure the victory.
