Texas Lutheran Falls at Sul Ross State

ALPINE, TX -- Senior forward Morgan Rodriguez (New Braunfels/Canyon) scored 13 points to lead the Bulldogs but Texas Lutheran women's basketball lost to Sul Ross State 78-52 on Sunday at the Pete P. Gallego Center in Alpine, TX.

Senior Heaven Dandridge (Bay City/Liberty Hill) had a season-high 10 points for the Bulldogs and Kailey Lacy (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) added eight points. Freshman Madison Belford (Corpus Christi/Tuloso-Midway) had a team and career-high six rebounds.

Texas Lutheran (2-4) hit 19-of-59 (32.2 percent) from the floor, including three of 14 (21.4 percent) from behind the arc. Sul Ross State made 29-of-66 (43.9 percent) of its shots, including seven of 18 (38.9 percent) from three-point range. The Lobos grabbed 48 rebounds compared to 36 for the Bulldogs. Sul Ross State held a 30-26 advantage in points in the paint and a 12-10 edge in points of turnovers.

The Lobos would get on the board first taking an early 4-0 lead before extending their lead to 12-4 on an early run. Texas Lutheran struggled to put a dent in the Lobos lead shooting 4-of-11 in the first quarter as the Lobos led the Bulldogs 19-9 after one quarter.

In the second quarter, the Lobos would stretch their lead to 18 as the Bulldogs could never put a run together to cut into the growing Sul Ross State lead.

Texas Lutheran scored the first four - and eight of the first 12 - points of the second half, all from Madison Rodriguez, to cut the Lobos lead to 14 leading to a timeout from Sul Ross.

Sul Ross State would control the quarter from there - outscoring the Bulldogs 14-6 to close the quarter with a 57-35 lead.

In the fourth, the Bulldogs would never get closer than the initial 18 points deficit.

After playing three games in seven days, the Bulldogs will be off until Saturday, Nov. 27, when they host the Tornados of Concordia (TX) at Memorial Gymnasium. Tip-off will be at 2 PM and all streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
