CC's balance too much for Sewanee

Colorado College made 64-percent of its shots from the floor during the first half and had five players score double-figure points while cruising to an 86-62 victory over Sewanee on Sunday afternoon at Reid Gymnasium.

Senior guard Nick Rose finished with a game-high 20 points, the ninth time he has scored 20 or more points in a game this season. He made eight of 14 shots from the floor, including two of three from three-point range.

Rose became the eighth player to surpass the 1,300-point plateau and finished the game ranked sixth with 1,316 points.

Colorado College buried 11 of its first 15 shots, including four in a row from three-point range, while jumping out to a 26-15 lead.

Sewanee cut its deficit to eight points on a three-pointer by Trent Williams with 9:32 remaining in the first half, but Brady Ohlsen had six points during a 14-3 run to give CC a 19-point lead with 4:15 to play. Ohlsen made seven of nine field-goal attempts and finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Colorado College scored the final seven points to take a 49-26 lead after 20 minutes. However, Sewanee opened the second half with a 16-9 run to pull to within 16 points on a layup by Sam Martin with 13:28 remaining.

CC scored 13 of the next 15 points to build a 71-44 lead with 7:01 to play and put the game away a 13-6 run that made the score 84-50 with 3:04 to go. 

Jeremiah Waters made five of seven shots, including three of five from three-point range, en route to a 13-point performance. Colin Madden and Ryan Milne added 10 points apiece.

Brett Bouldin led Sewanee with 17 points, while Anvil Nelson and Lewis Affronti each added 14. Nelson had a game-high nine rebounds.

CC improved to 12-6 overall and 8-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Sewanee dropped to 6-10 overall and 2-7 in conference play.

Colorado College travels to DePauw University and Centre College next Friday and Sunday, respectively.
