The Rhodes College baseball team dropped their season opener and the first game of the Wilson/Demarini Classic this afternoon to Berry College in Jackson, MS. Berry jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after two innings and stretched the lead to 2-0 after three innings. Both teams traded runs in the fifth to make it 3-1 where the game would stay for the final four innings. Junior
Austin Carden picked up the loss for the Lynx.
Carden worked the first 4.1 innings, allowing 10 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 1, and struck out 5. Senior
Hunter Chandler got the Lynx out of a tight spot after relieving Carden with one out in the fifth. Chandler needed only three pitches to get an inning ending double play. Freshman
Max Halasz made his collegiate debut in the sixth allowing 1 hits and striking out 2. Senior Andy Meier worked a perfect seventh, striking out 1. Sophomore
Tony Pikos allowed 1 walk and struck out 1 in the eighth.
The Lynx offense was paced by senior leadoff hitter

Kyle Peterson was 1-1 with a run scored, walked once and got hit by a pitch.
The Lynx will return to action tomorrow at 11:00 against the host team of the Wilson/Demarini Classic, Millsaps College.
