GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Men's golf competed in the Rhodes College Invitational on September 22nd-23rd in Tunica, Mississippi. The Pirates played 72 holes in two days, carding scores of 293, 292, and 288 in the final round, forcing a team playoff.
After rounds 1 & 2 the Pirates were in third place, behind by seven strokes. The Pirates played their way into the lead after completion of round 3. Team playoff was resolved following completion of round 3, by means of an extra hole being played until a team winner emerges. With mounds of pressure on the Pirates they played the playoff hole even par while Sewanee played it +5 as a team. Resulting in a tournament win for the Pirates!
The Pirates were led by sophomore Ricky Mitchell who fired rounds of 72, 73, 71 (E) where he finished in 6th place for the tournament. Finishing in 17th place was senior Matthew Peesker with rounds of 72, 74, 74 (+4), following him in 20th place was senior Bryce Stiemert who shot 73, 78, 70 (+5). Freshman William Suell came next for your Pirates with rounds of 74, 76, 73 (+7), putting him in 25th place. And rounding out your Pirates team was junior Ethan Bridges who carded rounds of 75, 72, 81 (+12), where he finished in 43rd place.
