'Roo Men Edged by Rhodes

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team fell 1-0 to visiting Rhodes College on Friday evening, as the Lynx found the back of the net early in the second half for what would prove to be the game-winner. The 'Roos are now 0-4 on the year.

It was a defensive battle throughout, and neither team was able to find many scoring chances early on. Both teams managed five shot attempts in the opening half, with the Lynx putting three on goal while the 'Roos put two on frame. However, Austin College keeper Connor Tullis and Rhodes keeper Mitchell Fenton kept the offenses at bay, and the game went into the break scoreless.

The Lynx managed to break through early in the second half, as Jack Lippe punched in a rebound in the 49th minute of action to make it a 1-0 game. Austin College got its best chance to equalize in the 80th minute on a header by Stephen Hirsch, but Fenton punched it away to keep Rhodes ahead and that's how things would finish.

Tullis and Fenton each finished with four saves, while the Lynx out-shot the 'Roos 13-9 in the match. Austin College is back in action on Sunday when they take on Hendrix College at 2:00 p.m. in another home match.
