Women's Soccer Edged by UDallas

Women's Soccer Edged by UDallas

The University of St. Thomas Women's Soccer team dropped a hard-fought match to University of Dallas, 1-0.

The start of the first half was slow, as both teams struggled to find their rhythm. The Crusaders found their groove at the 12th minute forcing Celts Goalkeeper Emily Edwards to make her first save of the game. The Celts struggled in the final third, as they were unable to get any of their 4 shots of the half on goal. Edwards continued to come out huge for the Celts with four saves keeping the game scoreless heading into the break.

UDallas opened the second half challenging the Celts right away, Edwards found herself having her first save of the half at the 48 minute mark. The Celts first big opportunity of the game came at the 58th minute when Olivia Urrutia fired a shot on goal, forcing the Crusaders goalkeeper to make a save. The Celts had back-to-back shots on goal, but ultimately it was not enough as the Crusaders scored at the 65th minute and controlled the rest of the game offensively, ending the match 1-0.

This was Edwards first game in net for the Celts as she usually is a defender. Edwards ended the game having saved 6 of the 7 shots on goal by the Crusaders.

The Celts return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Georgetown to face the Southwestern Pirates. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00PM.
