UD Women's Basketball Celebrate Senior Day vs. Southwestern University

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's basketball team closed the home portion of its schedule with a 68-50 setback to Southwestern University on Saturday. The Pirates (8-15, 6-10 SCAC) jumped to an 18-1 lead and never trailed the rest of the way. The Crusaders did battle back with a 21-13 fourth quarter, but the damage had been done.

Dallas (3-20, 1-15 SCAC) struggled from the field in the first half, making one field goal in the opening 10 minutes. A couple free throws on two trips to the line was all UD had mustered until a trey by Beyonce Perry (Lake Jackson, Texas) with under a minute counted for the team's first made field goal. Dallas improved its scoring total a little in the second but surrendered its highest point total for a period with 23. Southwestern knocked in four three-pointers in seven attempts within that span.

Down 41-17 at the half, the Crusaders kept fighting back in the second half to try and reduce the deficit. SU posted a 14-12 edge in the third and Dallas finished the last 10 minutes with its highest quarter scoring total. This included 52.9 percent (9-17) shooting from the field. Jules Oliveti (Southlake, Texas) logged 10 points that frame.

Oliveti finished with team-highs in points (14) and rebounds (8) from the bench. Perry made a trio of three-pointers for most of her 11 points. Madi Horne (Paradise, Texas) added 10 points and six boards. Panda Houseworth (Farmersville, Texas) dished five assists.

Dallas ended up outscoring the Pirates on second chance points, 14-9. Southwestern led in most of the other categories, with the biggest margin being on rebounds (41-33) and points off turnovers (22-11). SU shot 40.3 percent overall and was an effective 11-13 at the free throw line. Dallas raised its field goal percentage to 33.9 percent overall.

Cecily Woolfolk paced the offense with 20 points off 9-for-11 shooting. She picked up six rebounds as well. Noel Pratts followed with 17 points to go with five rebounds and assists. Lauren Fulenwider completed a trio of double-digit scorers with 10.

Prior to tip-off, a trio of UD players got recognized for being seniors on the squad. Houseworth, Gracie Williams (Midwest City, Okla.), and Alex Parkey (Henrietta, Texas) received recognition.
