Bulldogs get win over Johnson & Wales - Denver, fall to Trinity at SCAC Crossover

SAN ANTONIO -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs posted a four-set win over Johnson & Wales - Denver and a three-set loss to Trinity on Saturday at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Crossover in San Antonio.
 
At Trinity University, the Bulldogs completed a 2-2 run through the SCAC Crossover in two days of action. On Friday, TLU defeated St. Thomas (Texas) and lost to Austin College.
 
The Bulldogs are 16-13 overall and 7-7 in the SCAC. The Bulldogs currently sit in fifth place in the conference standings. The top six teams advance to the conference tournament, which TLU hosts Nov. 8-10 in Memorial Gymnasium.
 
TLU defeated JWU-Denver 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 25-16. TLU hit .173 for the match and held the Wildcats to .045. The Bulldogs tallied 13 total blocks against the Wildcats.
 
Peyton Sulak and Kacie Hall each had eight kills for TLU in the win. Hall added three solo blocks.
 
Jaci Chambers delivered 20 assists and collected 14 digs. Chambers also served four aces. Lexi Morris led TLU with 22 digs.
 
Kelsi Menn recorded four solo blocks and a block assist.
 
TLU fell 25-17, 25-18, 25-22 to Trinity.
 
Bryten Mitchan registered eight kills and five block assists against the Tigers. 
 
TLU was held to a .107 hitting percentage. 
 
The Bulldogs close out conference play next Saturday and Sunday at the SCAC Crossover at Austin College. TLU will face University of Dallas and Centenary on Friday and Colorado College and Schreiner on Sunday.
