Tigers Complete Day One of Phoenix Fall Classic

Freshman Edmund Davis posted Colorado College's best individual finish with an eighth-place result in the 500-yard freestyle on the first day of the Phoenix Fall Swimming Classic in Chicago, Ill.

Davis was the only Tiger to qualify in the 'A' final of Friday's events and he finished the 500 free race with a time of 4:39.52.

Colorado College finished 11th in the men's 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays on Friday.

On the women's side, the quartet of Alexis Lee, Malia Hewitt, Kate Brush and Gina Lynch placed sixth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:56.20.

Brush captured the best individual result for the CC women, placing 12th in the 500 freestyle, while Hewitt and Lynch finished 16th and 18th, respectively, in the 200 individual medley.

"This is a very fast and deep meet, with 10 good teams," head coach Anne Goodman James said. "It is really challenging us to do our best. All of our relays had big time drops today, and we had several individuals swim to new personal bests."

The meet continues on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the University of Chicago.
