TLU Volleyball completes perfect 3-0 run through Hendrix College Invitational

CONWAY, Ark. -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs finished off a 3-0 run through the Hendrix College Invitational with a 3-1 non-conference victory Sunday over Rhodes College (Tenn.).
 
TLU won 23-25, 29-27, 25-21, 25-16.
 
Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) collected 16 kills and hit .419 in the victory. Weisinger made just three errors and had 31 attempts. She also added three block assists.
 
Junior outside hitter/middle blocker Cailey Young (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) added 11 kills, and freshman outside hitter Paige Day (San Antonio/Reagan) registered 10 kills and 11 digs.
 
Senior setter Jaci Chambers (Baytown/Goose Creek Memorial) delivered 34 assists and led TLU in digs, with 22. She also picked up three block assists.
 
Sophomore middle blocker Peyton Sulak (Needville/Needville) registered eight kills and four block assists.
 
TLU hit .258 as a team and held Rhodes to .142.
 
TLU improved to 7-5 overall. Rhodes fell to 6-6.
 
The Bulldogs posted tournament wins Saturday over Howard Payne (Texas) and Huntingdon (Alab).
 
TLU returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Crossover Tournament. The Bulldogs face St. Thomas (Texas) and Johnson & Wales (Denver) on Friday and play Trinity and Austin on Saturday.
 
All matches will be played at Johnson & Wales in Denver.
