Rhodes Defeats Emory 6-3

The Rhodes Baseball defeated Emory University this afternoon 6-3 behind an outstanding pitching performance by sophomore Jackson Baker.  Baker picked up his first victory of the season to improve to 1-1 on the year, as Rhodes is now 3-5 on the season.

Baker worked 6 innings and had a no hitter through the first 5 innings, allowed 2 hits on the day, 3 runs, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and struck out 8.  Senior Hunter Chandler worked the 7th and 8th for the Lynx allowing 4 hits, no runs, walked 1, and struck out 1.  Senior Taylor Babich picked up his first save of the season as he finished off the Eagles in the 9th.

The Lynx offense was led by senior RF Matt Gilbert who was 2-4 at the plate with a run scored and a walk.  Senior 1B Brent Lindsey was 1-3 with a run scored and 2 walks.  Sophomore Matt Burnick was 1-3 with a run scored and a RBI.  Senior C Chris Conkell was 1-3 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walked once.

Rhodes will return action tomorrow night at 7:00 against #10 Marietta College at Christian Brothers High School.
