Eva King scored four goals, the last of which ignited a 5-1 run midway through the second half, to lead the Colorado College women's lacrosse team to an 18-13 victory over cross-town rival UCCS in the Tiger's home opener on Wednesday afternoon.
CC led 12-7 after sophomore midfielder
Avery Bell scored 2:32 into the second half, but the Mountain Lions rattled off three goals in a little less than four minutes to get to within two for the first time since late in the first half.
King put an end to the surge when she took freshman attacker
Maggie O'Donnell's feed from behind the cage and placed a shot into the left side of the net. O'Donnell finished with four assists and scored the final goal of the game.

Emmeline Kelley's first career goal gave the Tigers a 14-10 lead, and following a tally by UCCS's Madison Ellis, Colorado College answered with an unassisted goal from
Avery Melville.

Robin Hilderman to give the Tigers their largest lead of the game at 17-11.
Both teams held one-goal leads during the first 15 minutes of the game, but CC began to take control when it scored four consecutive goals just past the midway point of the first half.
Hilderman put the Tigers ahead for good on an unassisted goal with 14:27 remaining in the first half, and then Colorado College scored three times in a span of 1:23 to build a 9-5 cushion.
Junior attacker
Allie Thuet converted on a free-position shot, and then O'Donnell set up a pair of markers by King just 36 seconds apart.
Angela Naughton got one back for the Mountain Lions with 9:58 to go before halftime, but back-to-back tallies by Blair gave CC its largest lead of the first half at 11-6.
Naughton struck for the final goal of the half off a pass from Church to trim the UCCS deficit to four after 30 minutes.
Alena Stern finished with nine saves for the Tigers.
The sophomore goaltender made back-to-back stops to open the second half, including one at the edge of the crease on a shot by Naughton. That save led to a goal by Bell on the ensuing possession, which restored CC's five-goal cushion.
Senior midfielder
Ellie Meyer produced five draw controls, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. King grabbed a team-high four ground balls, while Blair forced two turnovers.
King led the Tigers with six points, while Blair finished with three goals and set up one more.
Thuet recorded two goals and an assist, while Bell, Meyer and Hildebrand each finished with a pair of markers.
Naughton led the Mountain Lion attack with two goals and three assists.
Malcolm, Corrigan, Ellis and Vanessa Nelson each scored a pair of goals for UCCS, which slipped to 1-2.
Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Baker made four saves for the Mountain Lions during the first 18:10 of action. Freshman Kennedy Travis stopped 10 shots in relief.
Colorado College is idle until Friday, March 8, when the Tigers play their first Division III game of the season at West Region rival Chapman University.
