The Colorado College women's swimming and diving team posted five top-10 results Sunday en route to a sixth-place finish among 13 teams at the Phoenix Fall Classic in Chicago, Ill.
Sophomore
Jio Chang put together the best result of the meet for the Tigers with a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of one minute, 57.41 seconds. Fellow sophomore
Selma Jukic placed fifth in the race with a time of 1:57.71. Chang and Jukic then joined senior
Justina Zuckerman and sophomore
Sarah Dunbar on the 400 freestyle relay team that finished seventh with a time of 3:43.28.
Senior diver
Mary Rose Donahue also collected a fifth-place finish in the 3-meter event with 363.4 points. Sophomore
Riley Wadehra and freshmen
Alexia Preston and
Imali Kegode finished 12
th, 13
th and 14
th, respectively.
The other top-10 result came from senior
Ellen Silk, who finished 10
th in the 100 butterfly (59.43 seconds).
The Tigers completed the meet with 255.5 points.
Meanwhile, while the CC men finished with 143 points, good for seventh place among 12 teams.
Sophomore
Eric Dallesasse and
Walker Martin each advanced to a final on Sunday. Dallesasse finished 15
th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.11 seconds and Martin was 16
th in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.16. Both swimmers joined sophomore
Michael Wright and freshman
Baker Casagrande on the 400 freestyle relay squad that qualified for the finals and finished 13
th.
Freshman
Casey Block put together another impressive day of diving, finishing the 1-meter event in 14
th-place with 347.85 points.
"We had a great meet with fast swimming and impressive diving this weekend," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "I was proud of how our team stepped up and raced with the best, and posted big time drops for all season best times. It was challenging just to make the finals, and we had several people do that."
